Biography
Prof. Susanna Miettinen iis an expert in cell and tissue technology, with a focus on human mesenchymal stem/stromal cells, tissue engineering, and advanced in vitro models for regenerative medicine. Her research group investigates how cells interact with their microenvironment and how these mechanisms can be harnessed to develop novel treatments for bone and soft tissue repair. She has secured substantial national and international competitive funding as Principal Investigator, including prestigious Research Council of Finland Centre of Excellence grants and several Horizon Europe projects.
She is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, holds patents and licensed innovations, and her team’s research has been translated into clinical applications for bone defect and urinary incontinence treatments.
